Afua Asantewaa’s World Record Attempt Unsuccessful – Guinness World Records Refunds Her Money

An attempt by a Ghanaian media personality, Afua Asantewaa, to set a new record with the Guinness World Records has been unsuccessful.

The news was confirmed in a tweet by Guinness World Records via X formerly known as Twitter.

Responding to a tweet by one account known as Obaa Afya Hipsy, the organization wrote saying;

“Unfortunately, Afua’s Guinness World Records attempt for the longest singing marathon was not successful, but we hope that she will make another attempt soon. We’ve seen how inspirational it has been for her fans. The evidence check had already begun before Afua requested priority service, so we refunded her payment earlier this month. We wish Afua the best of luck with any future record attempts.”

Afua Asantewaa Aduonum attempted to break the record for the longest individual singing marathon which is held by Indian Sunil Waghmare.

The singer earned the milestone after singing for 105 hours from March 3 to March 7, 2012.

Afua Asantewaa endured a five-day singing marathon that commenced at midnight on Sunday, December 24 and concluded at 7:00 am on December 29.

At the time of ending her record attempt on Friday morning, the young woman had sung for five days, six hours, and 55 minutes.

The organization has yet to explain exactly why her attempt was unsuccessful.
