Veteran Nigerian Actor Amaechi Muonagor Dies

Veteran Nollywood actor, Amaechi Muonagor, is dead.

 

According to multiple reports, the beloved actor, known for his memorable roles on screen succumbed to death after a protracted battle with kidney disease.

 

The tragic news of Muonagor’s death hit the internet on the evening of Sunday, March 24, 2024.

 

The news of his death comes barely one week after a video circulated online showing the 62-year-old actor lying still in bed, requesting financial aid to support his kidney transplant.

 

In a social media post last November, Muonagor’s cousin, Hon Tony Muonagor, posted a picture of him sitting next to the ailing actor on a hospital bed, stating that he wants the public to know the situation with his relative.

 

He later went into details of how the Nollywood legend had been battling kidney disease, diabetes, and stroke. He said though Muonagor had been managing his diabetes over the years and living his life, he was undergoing weekly dialysis at the time of the post.

Nigerian Actor Mr. Ibu Reported Dead

Celebrated Nigerian actor and comedian John Ikechukwu Okafor, popularly known as Mr. Ibu is reported dead.

 

According to multiple reports, the actor died on Saturday, March 2, 2024.

 

The family is yet to speak about the new development.

 

Background

The actor was hospitalized a couple of months ago after suffering from a serious sickness that led to one of his legs being amputated.

 

A statement from the actor’s family said that his leg was amputated to save his life.

 

Doctors had no choice but to sever the limb “to keep him alive”, a statement on his Instagram page read.

 

The statement went on to further reveal that the actor had undergone seven successful surgeries.

 

“… but to keep him alive and increase his chances of recovery, one of his legs had to be amputated. This development has been hard on us all, but we’ve had to accept it as Daddy’s new reality to keep him alive.”

 

The family went on to continue to appeal for help.

 

“Please, we are still soliciting support from well-meaning Nigerians as, at this stage, Daddy is still very delicate, and he needs all the help he can get.”

 

“Thank you, everyone, the Okafor family is grateful and we don’t take you for granted. In due time, Daddy will personally acknowledge everyone who supported him during this period as soon as he’s stable.”

Mr Ibu’s health issues first came to public attention last October, when the family posted a video on social media of the Nollywood star celebrating in hospital. In the clip he asked his fans for help with medical bills, eliciting a huge response.

 

The actor became famous 20 years ago in the Nigerian comedy Mr Ibu – which became his nickname. It is still regarded as one of the best Nigerian performances in a comic role.

 

He went on to act in several other notable movies in Nollywood, as Nigeria’s multi-billion-dollar film industry is known, in a career that has spanned more than two decades.

 

The star told a local newspaper a few years ago that he had a total of 13 children some of whom were adopted.

CEO Of Access Bank, His Wife, His Son And 3 Others Die In Helicopter Crash In California

A Nigerian banker, his wife, and his son are among the six people who died in a San Bernardino County helicopter crash Friday evening, as the aircraft was en route from Palm Springs to Boulder City, Nevada.

Six passengers were confirmed onboard by the FAA with early Saturday morning reports stating that “no survivors have been located.”

 

The Eurocopter EC 130 helicopter, with six people on board, crashed around 10 p.m. local time, east of the 15-Freeway near Nipton, which is just west of the Nevada border.

 

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash and its circumstances.

 

Dr. Herbert Onyewumbu Wigwe,57, CEO of Access Bank, had professional ties to Nigeria, serving as a Board Member of Nigerian Mortgage Refinance Company and a member of the Advisory Board for Friends Africa.  His wife and son along with Abimbola Ogunbanjoa, a former chair of Nigerian Exchange Group, died in the crash CBS News confirmed.

 

The identities of the other two people on board the helicopter have not been confirmed.

“Things We Do For Love” Star, Vincent E. McCauley Reported Dead

Vincent E. McCauley, a Ghanaian actor well-known for his role in the popular 90’s television series Things We Do For Love has died.

The news of his death was confirmed by colleague actor and friend Adjetey Annang.

Popularly referred to as Max in the TV Series, the actor is said to have died on Monday, January 15, 2024.

 

It is immediately unknown the cause of his death.

Vincent McCauley also starred include other movies including “Games People Play”, “Fortune Island”, “Office Palava”, “Living With Trisha: House of Secrets” and “The Idiot and I”.

Since the news of his death, tributes have poured in from far and near.

 

Sharing the news, Adjetey Annan, who was also known as Pusher, a rival to Max in the 90’s series, Things We Do For Love wrote;

“The tight hugs, the smile, the bulging eyes, the new words…we barely have recovered from losing Marlene (‘Lois’: your cousin in the series) and another member of the #thingswedoforlove family #vincentmacauley bids farewell,💔…not what we imagined beginning a new year…what deep pain! Rivals on set “Pusher & Max” since 1999 but cool guys off set. Thank you for being a part of the family and paying your dues very well. Rest in perfect peace brother🙏 Our deepest condolences to the family.”

Celebrated waakye seller Auntie Muni has passed away.

 

According to Asaase Radio, Auntie Muni passed away on Wednesday 3 January at the University of Ghana Medical Centre (UGMC) in Accra after a short illness.

 

Speaking to Benjamin Offei-Addo on the Asaase Breakfast Show on Wednesday (3 January), Auntie Muni’s son Arafat said she will be buried in Tamale today.

 

“Mummy was sick, she was complaining of pain, so we took her to the SNNIT Hospital…., there were complications, so she asked that they discharge her.”

 

“When they discharged her, after two days, we realised she was still not feeling well. So we rushed her to the University of Ghana Medical Centre for medical attention and this morning at 3 am she passed away,” Arafat said.
