Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards early Tuesday morning.

 

As expected, the announcement was riddled with snubs and surprises.
The finalists in each of the 23 categories were announced in two parts via global live stream and the motion picture academy’s social media accounts.
The 94th Academy Awards will take place on March 27 at the Dolby Theatre at Hollywood Highland in Hollywood and will be broadcast 
live on ABC.

Shutdown Franchise Pulls Mammoth Crowd With “Highlife Meets Hiplife” Independence Day Concert In Minnesota

Revered events hub, Shutdown Franchise has again sold out three shows in a roll in Minnesota in the celebrations of Ghana’s 67th Independence Anniversary.

 

The shows which commenced on Friday 8th, March, 2024, ended on Sunday 10th March, 2024. The events were in line to mark the 67th Independence Day celebrations of Ghanaians in Minnesota, and in the States at large.

 

The Goal of the celebrations was geared towards reliving and reminiscing on the art forms, especially music, which we had back in the days up until recently.

 

The first show, “Ye Wo Abonten”, to wit, “We Outside” which was on the 8th, happened at Rumba, Minneapolis – Minnesota. Although gates were to be opened at 9pm, patrons were waiting in a queue by 8pm, clad in their favorite Ghanaian regalias and flags.

 

DJ Lyriks, DJ Peaceboii and DJ Soundtainer treated all present to unlimited quality Ghanaian music from before till recent. KMJ, Patrick, Ogkoko and Mr. Mankato kept the party flaming till the very end.

 

The second Day, 9th March is when the main concert took off. The event happened at the Granada Theatre in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Labeled “Highlife Meets Hiplife”, the event had “Bisa Kdei” for the Highlife stance, and “Kwaw Kese” on the Hiplife ticket. Other artistes on bill were, H.Hardy, Raouf Denio, Fenom Vibez, Twin Cities Dance Crew, et al. The fire that rained on stage this day will forever leave indelible trail of emotions on guests, as the name Ghana was lifted up high in Minnesota.

 

The closing show, “Ye Wo Krom” which happened on Sunday, 10th March, was a straight jam party vibe that saw DJs; DJ Eazy E, DJ Oceeking, DJ Famous and DJ Lyriks treating attenders with the very best of authentic and unadulterated Ghanaian music.

 

The events became well liked to the extent that the state of Minnesota joined up in the celebrations, and its Governor, Tim Walz proclaimed the weekend as “Ghana’s Heritage Weekend”.

 

All videos and pictures sprouting from the events really attest that they were indeed the best or part of the best Ghanaian Diasporan events to have happened this year.

Ashanti Music Awards Opens Nomination For The 2024 Edition

The biggest music festival in the Ashanti Region of Ghana which was initiated in the year 2021 being the first edition opens call for Artist / Musicians, Traditional and social media Personalities, and other creatives to submit entries into the third edition of the music awards festival 2024.

 

The first edition in 2021 saw Flowking Stone winning the highest awards; Artist of the year, while at the second edition, Yaw Tog won the highest award – Artist of the year. Several other hard-working musicians and creative personalities won big during the nights of each award festival. Unlike other regional music awards festival; Ashanti Region Music Awards 2022 gave out a car to the nominee with the highest votes.

 

According to the Event Planner – Mr. Joshua A. Anemi, nominations are opened for participation. Interested creatives are to visit https://www.ashantimusicawards.com/nominate to submit entries. He further stated that just as it was done during the second edition, nominees with the highest vote will be given a car.

 

Posed with the question of eligibility for other Artist and creatives outside the Ashanti Region, Mr. Anemi said “Yes, they are qualified to submit an entry if they have works under the year of review. They will be required however to do so under the non-Ashanti category”.

Rose Adjei To Trill Fans At “Kardia Hakarat Hatow” Concert

This year’s edition of Rose Adjei’s annual gospel musical concert dubbed ‘Kardia Hakarat Hatov’ which simply means “A Heart Of Gratitude”, will be held on Sunday, April 7, 2024 at the Perez Chapel, Zoeland Mataheko near Flamingo Junction in Accra.

Rose Adjei, who will perform for over one-and-a-half hours on stage, has promised to thrill her fans, Christians and gospel music lovers from all walks of life with most of her hit songs.

She is expected to rock the stage alongside some selected Ghanaian seasoned gospel music icons such as Kogi Owusu Peprah, Jack Alolome, Oheneba Clement,Devin Arthur, Akosua Karl, Gabe Akwerh and a host of others.

This years event is under the theme: ‘He Has Heard My Prayers’ (Psalm 66:19).

Designed to fulfil the spiritual needs of people, the event is expected to pull thousands of music lovers to the venue to witness the thrilling performances.

According to Rose Adjei, the concert is aimed at proclaiming the message that God has indeed heard our prayers.

She added that the ‘Kardia Hakarat Hatov’ concert is a gospel musical concert borne out of the need to create a platform to spread the work of Christ Jesus to believes.

Last year’s concert brought unending testimonies on how God used the programme to minister and bless the audience, and they believe a double dose will be administered this year.

U.S based Ghanaian gospel diva, Maadwoaah has revealed that she doesn’t write her own songs.

The “Salvation Reign” singer made this shocking disclosure in the course of an interview with alltunezgh.com

According to her, she doesn’t have a ghostwriter as perceived by many people neither does she sample the songs of other musicians.

In her own words, the Holy Spirit mysteriously attends to her anytime she’s in the mood to drop a new song.

She went on to add that, music producer Erickay sometimes guides her in the studio after the Holy Spirit has finished with its work

I don’t write my songs…my new song ‘Salvation Reign’, i didn’t write it ooo …Like putting pen to paper even my pen and book got missing way back…I don’t have a pen and a book; so I have never written my own songs…the songs just runs through my head then I quickly go to the studio and produce it,”
