The 3 Music Award scheme continues to send shockwaves throughout the African music and entertainment ecosystem, with more improved metrics in determining who gets nominated. According to Kelly Nii Lartey Mensah, Digital Media Strategist and Social Media Coach, the award’s exceptional outputs over the years are the result of “science and data.” Kelly wrote in a Facebook post cited by our reporters: “If only YouTube views are required to be nominated for one of the three Music Awards, Maame Grace and Akabenezer will be named artiste of the year. Some people just talk keke, oblivious to the fact that the award is based on science and data.” “The science of the award selection is second to none, and the innovation is beneficial to the music industry not only in Ghana, but throughout the African continent.” The science employed by the Board of the Three Music Awards examines all aspects of music consumption, not just one or two, but the entire music consumption enclave. The information gathered from these various sources is then analyzed and graded. This is why we have an award system. — Kelly Mensah elaborates. This was explained to our reporter. Everything is scrutinized by the three Music Awards Boards and the research center. Mainstream to digital, events and festivals, and any other way music is consumed that the board is aware of. The science implies that there is a research and development team that looks at the entire music consumption biology, not just digital, throughout the year.
