Ben Brainy Clarifies Nigerian Music Influence on Ghanaian Artists On Starr FM

Ghanaian musician and songwriter Ben Brainy, who is signed to Hometown Records, has addressed the ongoing debate about the influence of Nigerian music on Ghanaian artists. Speaking on Starr FM with Mr. Kaxtro over the weekend, he dismissed claims that young Ghanaian musicians are deliberately imitating the Nigerian sound. Instead, he attributed this perception to the heavy exposure of Nigerian songs in Ghana.
During the interview, Ben Brainy explained that the dominance of Nigerian music on Ghanaian airwaves has shaped listeners’ perceptions.
“Ghanaians have listened to too many Nigerian songs; that’s why they think the young ones coming up are copying the Nigerian style,” he said.
He emphasized that music is an evolving art form, and while artists may draw inspiration from different sources, that does not mean they lack originality.
Ben Brainy, who is promoting his latest song ‘Location’, highlighted the need for Ghanaians to support local musicians just as they do with Nigerian artists.
Stream Location here:

“Music is a universal language. We get inspiration from different sounds, but that doesn’t mean we are copying. It’s just the way the industry is evolving,” he noted.
He also called on radio stations, DJs, and streaming platforms to push more Ghanaian content, ensuring a balance between local and foreign music.
Ben Brainy’s remarks on Starr FM with Mr. Kaxtro have sparked renewed discussions on the state of Ghana’s music industry. Many industry stakeholders believe that while Nigerian music has a strong influence globally, Ghanaian artists must receive the same level of promotion, airplay, and industry support to help them thrive.
As a rising star under Hometown Records, Ben Brainy remains dedicated to producing original Ghanaian music that resonates with both local and international audiences. His message is clear: Ghanaian artists are not copying but evolving with global trends. It’s time to support and celebrate the homegrown talents shaping the future of Ghana’s music industry.

Ben Brainy Advocates For Urgent Action Against Rising Drug Abuse Among Youth

Acclaimed Ghanaian musician Ben Brainy, signed to Hometown Records, has issued a strong call to action regarding the growing menace of drug abuse among the youth. Speaking in an exclusive interview on Hitz FM with DJ Slim, the artist expressed deep concern over the alarming rate at which young people are engaging in substance abuse, both within and beyond the entertainment industry.
Ben Brainy highlighted the dangerous normalization of drug use, particularly among aspiring musicians and creatives. He noted that many young artists now believe that taking substances enhances their creativity and performance, a misconception he strongly opposes.
“It is truly frightening how drug abuse has escalated among the youth. It has reached a level that is deeply troubling. I have witnessed individuals come into my studio, convinced that they need to take something before they can record their songs. This is a serious issue that we must address immediately. The youth are dying, and we cannot remain silent,” he emphasized.
His remarks shed light on a broader societal issue where substance abuse is not only affecting individual lives but also threatening the future of an entire generation.
The musician also pointed out how music, entertainment, and social media have contributed to the glorification of drug use. He stressed that artists, influencers, and media personalities have a responsibility to promote positive values instead of content that encourages substance abuse.
“As musicians and public figures, we have a duty to inspire and educate, not to lead people down a destructive path. Drug abuse is ruining lives, and we need to take a firm stand against it. The youth look up to us, and we must set the right example,” he added.
Ben Brainy urged not only artists but also community leaders, educators, and parents to take an active role in addressing this crisis. He emphasized the importance of mentorship, awareness campaigns, and educational programs to help young people understand the dangers of drug abuse and make informed life choices.
“We need a collective effort to combat this issue. Parents, teachers, community leaders, and industry stakeholders must all come together to educate and guide the youth. It is not just about banning substances it is about providing alternatives, opportunities, and hope,” he stated.
While advocating for this cause, Ben Brainy also announced the release of his latest single, “Location,” which is now available on all major streaming platforms. He encouraged fans and supporters to stream the song and help spread its message.
“The least you can do for me is to support my music. Show me love by streaming my songs. Every stream counts, and I appreciate the support,” he concluded.
Ben Brainy’s powerful statement serves as a much-needed wake-up call, urging young people to rethink their choices and society to take proactive measures against drug abuse. His advocacy goes beyond music, addressing a critical issue that affects countless lives.
As his message continues to gain attention, it remains to be seen how industry stakeholders, policymakers, and society at large will respond to this growing crisis. One thing is certain Ben Brainy has taken a bold step in pushing for change, and his voice adds to the ongoing fight against drug abuse among the youth.
