On Saturday night, Ghanaian Disc Jockey Lord OTB claimed a slice of history as he won the most coveted best ‘DJ of the Year’ category at the 2023 Guinness Ghana DJ Awards.

The Disc Jockey, whose real name is Lord Barnes, made history by becoming the first DJ to dethrone the five-time winner, DJ Vyrusky.

The esteemed DJ faced fierce competition from industry stalwarts such as DJ Nyce, DJ Mac Tonto, DJ Sly, and DJ Faculty but stood out as the ultimate winner.

In addition to the DJ of the Year honour, DJ Lord OTB also won the ‘Mixtape of the Year’ and ‘Best Southern Zone DJ’ awards.

His dedication, creativity, and years of hard work have solidified his position as a trailblazer in the DJing scene.

The event also recognized other notable DJs, including The Mask DJ as Female DJ of the Year, DJ Bridash from Hitz FM as Record Promoter of the Year, and honored the legendary DJ Lucy Banini, aka Maa Luu, with a Lifetime Achievement Award.

DJ Lord OTB, with almost a decade of experience, began his career as the official DJ of the Live Breakfast Club on Live 91.9fm, further solidifying his presence in Ghana’s nightlife scene.

Over the past year, he has participated in some of Ghana’s most prominent shows and concerts, including the S Concert, Ghana Meets Naija, and MTN Pulse campus activations. Winners for the 2023 Ghana DJ Awards have been announced.

The winners include DJ Carcious who won the DJ/Artist Collaboration of the Year and DJ Lord who broke the 5 year reign of DJ Vyrusky by winning the prestigious DJ of The Year.

Held under the theme, “Moved by music”, the 11th edition of the Ghana DJ Awards which took place at the Grand Arena in Accra Ghana saw performances from musicians including Keche, Dope Nation, Shatta Wale and a few others.

Established in 2012, the Ghana DJ Awards celebrates and appreciates the talents of Disc Jockeys (DJs), as well as fosters the development of the Ghana music industry by rewarding and celebrating Radio, Mobile and Club Disc Jockeys who have excelled in their fields of endeavour.

It is the only national award scheme in Africa that appreciates and celebrates DJs for their work.

Multi talented gospel songwriter singer, and performer, Bishop Cynthia Adu Boateng has been crowned the Queen mother (Nkosuo Hemaa) of “Pokomo Kingdom” in Kenya.

The enstoolment took place last saturday, 25th November 2023 at London with the Chief of Kenya.

HRH Queen Nana Asamoah Sekyi, Obaa Hemaa Gladys, Bishop Mary, Regina Opokuwaa, Don Markus, Pastor Chisoba, Prince Eze Agha Ufo, Mr Bill Boateng(Husband) etc  were some  of the dignitaries invited to the ceremony.

Wearing a beautiful traditional cloth, Bishop Cynthia Adu Boateng looked absolutely beautiful and a true reflection of an African Queen.
