Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan announced the nominations for the 2022 Academy Awards early Tuesday morning. As expected, the announcement was riddled with snubs and surprises. The finalists in each of the 23 categories were announced in two parts via a global live stream and the motion picture academy’s social media accounts. It’s a new year, and the NAACP Image Awards are ready to bestow gleaming new trophies to recognize the treasure trove of Black excellence that made 2021 so memorable. The annual awards show celebrates the accomplishments of people of color in television, music, literature, and film, as well as their contributions to social justice through their creative endeavors. Congratulations to Ghanaian superstar KiDi, who has been nominated for the 2022 NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding International Song with his global smash hit Touch It that reached the Billboard charts, competes with songs by other great African artists such as Wizkid, Omah Lay, Tiwa Savage and FireboyDML. The winners will be announced during a two-hour special hosted by seven -time NAACP Image Award winner Anthony Anderson on BET on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 8/7c.
