Henry Cavill Will No Longer Return To Superman

Henry Cavill will no longer portray Superman in the DC movie universe — despite previously announcing that he’d be returning to the role.

“I have just had a meeting with James Gunn and Peter Safran and it’s sad news, everyone. I will, after all, not be returning as Superman,” Cavill, 39, wrote via Instagram on Wednesday, December 14. “After being told by the studio to announce my return back in October, prior to their hire, this news isn’t the easiest, but that’s life.”

Cavill starred in several DCU films as the superhero over the past few years but has been absent in the role since 2017’s Justice League. Last month he made a surprise cameo as Clark Kent in Black Adam and confirmed that he would officially be back in the tights.

On Wednesday, however, the Witcher alum revealed that Gunn, 56, and Safran, 57, who are co-CEOs of DC Studios as of October, have a new “universe to build” and therefore will no longer be moving ahead with their initial plans for the man of steel.

“The changing of the guard is something that happens. I respect that. … I wish them and all involved with the new universe the best of luck, and the happiest of fortunes,” Cavill said in his statement on Wednesday.

The Enola Holmes star concluded his goodbye message by asking fans who are in “mourning” to remember that “Superman is still around” despite his time with the character coming to a close.

“Everything he stands for still exists, and the examples he sets for us are still there! My turn to wear the cape has passed but what Superman stands for never will. It’s been a fun ride with you all, onwards and upwards,” he wrote.

The Guardians of the Galaxy director, for his part, later took to social media to confirm the news.

“Peter & I have a DC slate ready to go, which we couldn’t be more over-the-moon about; we’ll be able to share some exciting information about our first projects at the beginning of the new year,” he tweeted on Wednesday. “Among those on the slate is Superman. In the initial stages, our story will be focusing on an earlier part of Superman’s life, so the character will not be played by Henry Cavill. But we just had a great meeting with Henry and we’re big fans and we talked about a number of exciting possibilities to work together in the future.”

Tony Amani To Release Highly Anticipated “Here & Now” EP On November 8th

With the spotlight on Ghanaian music getting bigger and brighter, we are getting accustomed to unravelling hidden gems with very refreshing sounds. One of such exciting prospects is Tony Amani, a crooner who is steadily building a cult following with every release.

The Alexandria based Ghanaian-American is currently an independent who has released multiple singles and bagged notable nominations such “US based Uncovered Artist of the year” in 2019. In 2022, Tony was nominated for categories by the US-GMAs and won the “US-based Male Vocalist of the year”. As we gear towards the end of 2024, artists are charging up to put out new material for the festive period and Tony Amani is not looking to be left out.

His two year hiatus comes to an end with the upcoming release of his first ever EP dubbed “Here&Now”. The official artwork for the project shows off the young vocalist in an azure crisp suit, laid back in wooden lounger while looking over his left shoulder.

The title of this impending project vividly depicts the growth of his artistry. The 5 track project is entirely produced by Rythem Style who is a close associate and frequent collaborator.

TRACKLIST

Overdose: The project starts off with “Overdose” which is a word that often reeks of negativity. However in this instance Tony Amani is counting all his blessings and indeed God has showered him abundantly. He expresses his profound gratitude for an overdose of blessings.

Tell Me: Tell Me is reminiscent of early 2000’s RnB melodies but embedded in a fusion of AfroPop and Amapiano. The song opens up with the line “Baby Tell Me Whats Up”. The song is urging a pretty and sexy damsel to open up and confess her feelings for Tony Amani. As the song progresses, the soothing singer paints a vivid picture of how beautiful the lady in focus is through his lyrics.

Fre Me: Fre Me is a phrase from “Akan” a Ghanaian language, and it translates to “Call Me”. Tony Amani wants his better half to know she can call him and count on him whenever she needs him, as he is always readily available to help her out. There’s nothing more a woman would love than a man who is just a phone call away.

Nobody: The fourth song starts off with heavy African themed drums and dwells heavily on an experience most people have endured first hand. When times are tough, people often distance themselves. One of the intriguing lines comes from the infectious chorus of this masterpiece and it goes:
“No one go know you, nobody go follow you”
“When your things aint never poppin, you see nobody clappin”.

Joromi: Joromi is a beautiful composition that is appreciative of a faithful woman who stuck by Tony Amani side when life was tough for him. He reminisces on how he had nothing but his lady never despaired.

Here&Now will be available on all digital streaming platforms on November 8th 2024.

Ganda Ranks Calls For Responsible Leadership And Active Citizenry In His Upcoming Song ‘Leave Ghana Alone’

Legendary Ghanaian Reggae and Dancehall artist, Ganda Ranks, is set to release a powerful new song titled Leave Ghana Alone on November 7, 2024. The track, soon to be released, serves as a call for responsible leadership and active citizenry, urging individuals in high positions as well as the general public and foreigners in Ghana to either contribute to the nation’s progress or step aside. The song underscores that everyone has a role to play in building the country, and if one is not actively contributing, it is better to step away.
Leave Ghana Alone delivers a strong and profound message: if those in high positions are unwilling or unable to drive positive change, they should have the courage to step down. Ganda Ranks emphasizes that leadership, whether in government or other sectors, should be about service. Holding a position of power without making meaningful progress is a disservice to the nation. He stresses that resignation is not a crime, and if someone in high office finds themselves unable to fulfill their duties effectively, stepping aside is a responsible and honorable choice.
Rather than singling out any specific individual, Ganda Ranks’ anthem speaks broadly to those in high positions across the government, corporate leadership, and public institutions, anyone in a position to influence the nation’s direction. His message is clear: leadership is a duty, not a privilege, and those who cannot uphold this duty should allow others with the capacity to lead to take their place.
Beyond calling out leadership, Ganda Ranks also encourages every citizen to take responsibility for Ghana’s development. In the song, he powerfully sings, “If you can’t help the nation, just leave Ghana alone,” reiterating that both citizens and leaders must work together for the country’s progress. Democracy, he argues, should never be an excuse for irresponsibility. Instead, it should be an opportunity for both those in high power and citizens to be accountable and actively contribute to the country’s advancement.
Ganda Ranks also reflects on the growing anxiety that many Ghanaians feel during election periods, a time that should be filled with optimism and hope for new beginnings. He questions why citizens feel fear instead of excitement when new leadership or renewed commitments are on the horizon. “We should be happy because we are getting a new leader, even if it’s not a completely new leader, we are still getting new commitments,” he says. Whether it’s a new president or a returning one, election periods should be moments of optimism, not fear.
This sense of fear, according to Ganda Ranks, reflects deeper issues within both leadership and society. He challenges both people in high positions and citizens to restore trust in governance and civic duty, so that elections represent a chance for fresh ideas and renewed dedication. “Why should you be scared when it’s time to vote?” he asks, signaling that mistrust in leadership and disappointment in governance have made elections a source of anxiety rather than celebration.
In the lyrics of Leave Ghana Alone, Ganda Ranks reminisces about a time when Ghana thrived under traditional leadership, believing that the nation can flourish again if both those in high positions and citizens act responsibly. His song calls for a return to leadership and citizenship that prioritize the country’s well-being over personal power or status.
Ganda Ranks’ message is straightforward yet profound: everyone, from political leaders to ordinary citizens, has a role to play in Ghana’s development. Those who cannot fulfill their responsibilities should step aside to allow those who can to take charge. He reminds his audience that responsible leadership and active citizenry are the foundations of a prosperous nation.
In an interview, Ganda Ranks shared that his inspiration for Leave Ghana Alone came from imagining a Ghana where everything works smoothly, where businesses thrive, youth employment is high, and public systems function effectively. This vision for a better Ghana is what drove him to create the song, urging everyone to take their roles seriously and contribute meaningfully to the nation’s progress.
“We can’t have a country where nothing works. If everyone did their work well and left Ghana alone, we would be way up,” Ganda Ranks explains. For him, Leave Ghana Alone is more than just a song; it’s a call to action for leaders, citizens, and all who care about the country to step up and make a difference.
Known for his conscious music, Ganda Ranks has long been a voice for social change in the Reggae and Dancehall scene. With Leave Ghana Alone, he takes his advocacy for responsible leadership and citizenry to new heights, encouraging Ghanaians to take ownership of their country’s future.
This release solidifies Ganda Ranks’ reputation as a voice for change, inspiring not only his peers but also younger generations of musicians to use their platforms for positive social action. Leave Ghana Alone is not just a song; it is a rallying cry for responsible leadership and active citizenship.
Ganda Ranks reminds Ghanaians of the importance of collective action in building a brighter future for the nation. As the country looks ahead, his message resonates strongly: whether you are in a position of power or an ordinary citizen, if you cannot contribute positively, it’s time to step aside and let those who can lead the way.

Rebbel Ashes Set To Spark Social Change With The Release Of “Ghetto Revolution”

On November 1st, 2024, the music world will witness a profound statement from Ghanaian Afrobeat artist, Rebbel Ashes, with the release of his highly anticipated single Ghetto Revolution. This track, produced by Gomez Beatz and hosted on the Galamsey Riddim by DJ Naycha, promises to address deep-rooted socio-political and economic challenges facing marginalized communities, particularly in Ghana. With a combination of powerful lyricism and captivating rhythms, Rebbel Ashes is positioning Ghetto Revolution as a clarion call for change, advocating for the voiceless and marginalized within urban ghettos.
At its core, Ghetto Revolution is a hard-hitting socio-political anthem that captures the daily struggles faced by those living in disadvantaged communities. Ghettos across Ghana and Africa, plagued by limited access to education, rampant unemployment, and a lack of basic social services, often serve as a microcosm of broader systemic inequality. Rebbel Ashes masterfully weaves these themes into his music, shedding light on the harsh realities of life in the ghettos, while simultaneously encouraging unity and resistance against oppression.
The song’s artwork alone is symbolic, featuring a raised fist comprised of countless faces a global symbol of resistance, unity, and strength. This imagery resonates with struggles faced not only in Ghana but also across Africa and beyond, calling for collective action. It reflects the resilience of those determined to overcome systemic barriers and achieve justice, equality, and freedom.
In addition to addressing ghetto life, Ghetto Revolution is part of the Galamsey Riddim project, a musical initiative that spotlights the controversial and destructive practice of illegal mining, or “galamsey,” in Ghana. Galamsey is a serious environmental and social issue, devastating Ghana’s natural resources, causing water pollution, deforestation, and widespread health risks. Yet, despite its negative impact, galamsey is often viewed as a necessary evil by some of Ghana’s most impoverished citizens, who depend on it as a means of survival.
By incorporating the Galamsey Riddim into Ghetto Revolution, Rebbel Ashes underscores the interconnectedness of economic inequality, environmental destruction, and social exploitation. His choice of this riddim as the foundation for his song aligns his message with pressing national concerns, adding depth to his already compelling narrative.
Rebbel Ashes has long used his platform to highlight critical social issues. Over the years, he has built a reputation for merging infectious Afrobeat melodies with thought-provoking messages, aiming to elevate his music beyond entertainment. His previous work, including Kwansema, which earned international recognition, shows his commitment to using music as a tool for both reflection and change.
With Ghetto Revolution, Rebbel Ashes steps deeper into the role of social advocate, using his craft to challenge the status quo. He empowers listeners, particularly the youth, to rise up against social injustices and advocate for systemic reforms. This latest release goes beyond being a critique of current societal conditions—it serves as a message of hope and empowerment, urging people to actively work towards a better future.
The release of Ghetto Revolution is timely, coming at a moment when social movements across the world are gaining traction. Issues such as economic disparity, environmental justice, and government accountability have sparked waves of activism, particularly among young people. In Ghana, frustrations with government policies, environmental degradation from galamsey, and economic hardships are contributing to increased civic engagement.
Through Ghetto Revolution, Rebbel Ashes taps into these global and national movements, positioning his music as a vehicle for change. He aligns himself with artists across the world who are using their art to inspire, inform, and mobilize communities toward social and political reforms.
As the November 1st release of Ghetto Revolution approaches, anticipation is building for what promises to be not just a musical triumph, but a social statement. Rebbel Ashes has positioned himself as a key voice in the African music scene, one unafraid to tackle difficult issues head-on. Ghetto Revolution is expected to resonate far beyond the borders of Ghana, inspiring communities globally to rise against oppression and fight for their rights. In an era where music and activism are increasingly intertwined, Rebbel Ashes’ message of unity, resilience, and hope couldn’t be more timely.
With Ghetto Revolution, the revolution begins, and Rebbel Ashes invites us all to be a part of it. Prepare to join the movement on November 1st, 2024.

Obuasi Cricket Academy Sets A Historic Breast Cancer Awareness Day

In a remarkable event that blended sportsmanship with a heartfelt cause, the Obuasi Cricket Academy made history by hosting its first-ever Breast Cancer Awareness Day. Held at the Obuasi Cricket Oval on the KNUST Obuasi Campus, this initiative went beyond cricket, championing community solidarity and health awareness. The academy’s efforts captivated the entire Obuasi Municipality, with an impressive turnout of 650 male and female participants who gathered to support the cause, leaving a lasting impression on attendees and spectators alike.

The event began with an energizing health walk, where people from all walks of life joined to support breast cancer awareness. This walk, which aimed to promote physical fitness while symbolizing solidarity with those affected by the disease, was filled with optimism. The sight of hundreds marching for a common cause ignited a sense of unity and hope, making it a powerful opening act for the day’s activities.

Following the walk, attendees were invited to take advantage of free health screenings provided by professional medical practitioners from the Obuasi Government Hospital. The screenings, focusing on breast cancer detection and general health checks, were exceptionally well-received. The involvement of the medical team was deeply appreciated, as they provided crucial services that emphasized the day’s message of health awareness and prevention.

The highlight of the day was the T20 Women’s Bilateral Cricket Match between the Underground Mining Alliance (UMA) Stars and the DIDI Strikers. With the atmosphere charged with excitement, the DIDI Strikers delivered a commanding performance, winning the match by 61 runs. Having won the toss, they chose to field first, and their bowlers dominated the game.

Suglo Patricia set the tone with a stellar bowling performance, claiming 3 wickets for just 10 runs in 3 overs. Emmanuella Abdulai, a rising star from Ghana’s U19 national team, also dazzled, securing 3 wickets in her 3 overs while giving away only 16 runs. Ellen Asante added to the pressure with 1 wicket in 1.1 overs, conceding just 5 runs. Contributions from Richlove and Louisa sealed the UMA Stars’ fate, each taking 1 wicket.

Despite a strong fight from UMA Stars’ captain Kate Awuah, who scored an impressive 17 runs from 29 balls and remained not out, UMA fell short. Kate’s efforts earned her the titles of Best Batter and Player of the Match for her determined performance. Her all-around contributions continued in the second innings, where she took 2 wickets in 3 overs, giving up just 14 runs.

In the end, the DIDI Strikers bowled out the UMA Stars for 60 runs in just 11 overs and comfortably chased down the target, further cementing their dominance. Although the UMA Stars put up a valiant effort, particularly through Emma Abdulai, who was named Best Bowler for her phenomenal 2 wickets and maiden over, the DIDI Strikers proved unstoppable.

As the day drew to a close, the organizers of the Obuasi Cricket Academy expressed deep gratitude for the overwhelming support they received. “We graciously thank the Almighty God for guiding us and making this program a success. Indeed, His favour has been with us from day one,” remarked a representative.

They also extended their thanks to the event’s key sponsors, Underground Mining Alliance and DIDI Foods, whose contributions were pivotal in making the event possible. “May God continue to bless them abundantly for their generosity,” the organizers added.

A special mention was given to Lawrence Ahadzi, the GCA Development Officer, and Andrew Browne from Jamaica, who both served as umpires for the match. Beyond their roles as officials, the duo generously provided water and soft drinks to ensure that everyone stayed hydrated throughout the day. Their dedication and support did not go unnoticed and were highly appreciated by the academy and participants alike.

Gratitude was also extended to additional sponsors, including Syed Aqeel Isar, the Mine Union Workers, and Toni B Drinking Water. Their involvement helped ensure that the event ran smoothly and that participants were well taken care of. The academy expressed its deep appreciation for their invaluable support and looked forward to continued partnerships in the future.

In the closing remarks, the organizers thanked all the players, officials, and participants who made the event a success. “We appreciate everyone who came from near and far to support this initiative. May God guide and protect you on your journeys back home,” they concluded.

The Obuasi Cricket Academy Breast Cancer Awareness Day not only underscored the academy’s commitment to cricket but also showcased its dedication to social causes. This historic event has set a new standard for community engagement in the Obuasi region, and it will be remembered as a milestone in the academy’s growing influence. With more impactful events on the horizon, the academy is well on its way to uplifting both cricket and social awareness in Ghana.
