Ras Kuuku Features Kuami Eugene, Fameye, YPee On 4th Album “3, 3 & 1”

Why would anyone name an Album “3, 3 & 1”? What could be the reason behind it? — I’m sure these 2 questions have been lingering on the minds of many the very moment Ras Kuuku announced it as the title of his new Album.

Getting into quick conversations with the multiple award-winning Reggae and Afrobeats Singer, it was quite divine and empyreal how he gave a breakdown of it.

According to Ras Kuuku, adding the numbers “3 + 3 + 1” gives a figure of 7 which is quite a powerful and spiritual number connoting the heavens and celestial energies. Also, it represents the days of the week which has 7 days as well as the 7th month of the year, in which he (Ras Kuuku) was born.

With real name, Jonas Kojo Kurankye, Ras Kuuku has been on the path of music since the early 2000s and has scored some enviable feats and played some of the prestigious music stages from Ghana to USA, just to name a few. From getting multiple nominations and winning awards at Bass Awards, 3 Music, Vodafone Ghana Music Awards, Ghana Music Awards USA, Ghana Entertainment Awards USA, and a host of others, he has been able to ink his name in the Ghanaian Reggae/Dancehall fraternity as one of the Music icons defending the genre while staying true to his core roots in Highlife, Hiplife and Afrobeats as well. With previous features with other heavyweight artistes like Stonebwoy and Kofi Kinaata, one would agree Ras Kuuku didn’t come from an easy hole.

This Album “3, 3 & 1” is the 4th studio album by Ras Kuuku. He has previously released “Nokre”, “Kuntunkunuku” and “Kwame Nkrumah”.

“3, 3 & 1”, title track for the Album is the only Reggae song off the album with a blend of Afrobeats, Hiplife, Highlife et al, so he cuts across different markets with the record.

This new Album “3, 3 & 1” was released on July 30, 2022 via MiPromo Distribution services. The Album has 7 songs listed for it. He featured 5 artistes on this catalogue namely Kuami Eugene, Fameye, Paa Kwesi (Dobble), YPee and Kobi Trice NYC

We Are Not Utilizing Year Of Return – Bisa Kdei

Ghanaian Highlife star Bisa Kdei believes some promoters have hindered the rise of Ghanaian music, especially at the global level, due to their negative approach towards the music industry.

According to Bisa Kdei, it is very wrong to say Ghanaian music is not good enough while downplaying the efforts of the musicians, who put a lot of handwork into the craft.

Speaking in an interview with Accra FM, Bisa Kdei asserted that Ghana didn’t capitalise on the massive opportunities of the Year of Return initiative to sell our music.

“During recent Year of Return events, I didn’t think we used them well enough for ourselves. There are instances where foreigners come to experience Ghanaian music but end up listening to other genres.

“We know a lot of people came to Ghana during the Year of Return, but a lot of shows were not playing Ghanaian songs but promoting other genres,” he said.

Bisa Kdei also stated that the badmouthing of some promoters has also limited the growth of our music, especially with investors not willing to invest in the industry.

“You would have some promoters say no Ghanaian artiste can’t sell the O2 Arena, and they keep downplaying the efforts of the Ghanaian artistes.

“Let’s say good things so that it will encourage others to do their best. Nobody should say our music is not that good because some other artistes come to Ghana and even learn,” he said.

Bisa Kdei is currently promoting his heartfelt single “Medaase” which is gradually making waves across the country.

One Week Provisional Window For Errors And Omissions Petitions Opened For 2024 TGMA Nominations

Charterhouse, organizers of the prestigious Telecel Ghana Music Awards have announced that they are maintaining the provisional one-week window for dispute resolution concerning the released nominees list.

This was made known by the Head of Public Events and Communications at Charterhouse, Robert Klah, during the official launch of the 2024 Telecel Ghana Music Awards held on Thursday, March 28, 2024.

Listing the lineup of activities for this year’s awards, he said;

“In terms of activities, right after we declare who has been nominated, we’re going to have a one-week window for errors and omissions so that will take effect immediately. We introduced that last year. ”

He explained further saying;

“Sometimes, people submit their information and sometimes the information that comes to us is not too accurate and so you have people literally challenging information that is out there so we open that window for people to be able to give us information if anything is wrong, whatsoever.”

In an interview last year,  Robert Klah expatiated the one-week provisional window and announced the channels through which one could challenge a nomination or file a dispute.

“The one-week provisional window is for correction and provision. By correction, I mean the removal or inclusion or any type of information that might not be accurate as a result of the mechanisms in soliciting for information from different sources” he said.

He also revealed individuals could submit their concerns via their official emails or contact available on the award scheme’s website.

Following a petition by Austine Woode, broadcast journalist and Academy member of the Ghana Music Awards last year, Jah Bahd had his nomination for the Best New Artist category revoked.
