South African Rapper Costa Titch Reported Dead

South African rap artist Costa Titch has reportedly died.

 

Information is very scanty at the moment but multiple sources suggest that the rapper died on Saturday night aged 27 after suffering from a seizure on the Ultra stage at Expo Centre in Nasrec, South Africa.

 

The news of his death is shocking especially as South Africa is yet to come to terms with the shooting of AKA weeks ago.

Costa Titch entered the entertainment industry as a dancer, but over time, he metamorphosed and registered himself as a talented rapper in music lovers’ minds in South Africa.

 

Until the reported dead, the was having a great 2023 so far, revelling in the success of his smash hit, “Big Flexa”.

 

The song which was released in December 2021, became the most-viewed Amapiano video in late 2022. The track features Alfa Kat, Banaba Des, Sdida, Man T and C’buda M. In the song’s music video, the rapper shows off his impeccable dancing skills with Soweto’s Finest, a local dance group.

The video has officially reached 30.7 million views on YouTube, beating out MFR Souls, Major League DJz, Bontle Smith and Kamo Mphela’s Amanikiniki, which stands at 30 million.

 

Big Flexa has also wowed fans on other Spotify and TikTok. On Spotify, the track has accumulated more than six million listens while on TikTok, the sound has been used more than 105 000 times.

 

The independent artist had been doing things his own way since his career began, utilising the power of social media to establish a strong fan base who understand and love his sound, which is a fusion of hip hop and some amapiano beats.

 

Earlier this year, he received a major co-sign from Senegalese-American musician Akon, who praised him and predicted that he would be “a game changer”.

 

 

Akon’s co-sign went beyond just praising him in a video. He also linked up with the South African artist and was a surprise guest during Titch’s performance at Cotton Fest.

 

Titch continued to make waves as he took his career to another level with the release of new music and performed on some of the top stages.

Having always wanted to perform at Ultra since he was in high school, Costa Titch really looked forward to rocking the Ultra stage.
