The SRC President Of UMaT, His Excellency Isaac Aryeetey Fulfill His Promise Again

On Wednesday, April 5, 2023, the Pro Vice Chancellor, Prof. Anthony Simmons, together with other distinguished principal members and SRC executives of the University of Mines and Technology, performed the sod-cutting ceremony for the construction of the 10NR outdoor reading and relaxation shed at the ED – Block on the Tarkwa campus of the university.

The outdoor reading and relaxation shed, which is sorely funded by the SRC, is a carefully tailored project by the Aryeetey-Kwaning led administration to serve as a relaxation area for the teeming number of non-residential students. With about 80% of the total student population being non-residents, this project will cushion the pressure on the current structures to reduce the struggle for snug sheds in between lecture hours.

In his remarks, the SRC President, His Excellency Isaac Aryeetey, thanked the Executive Council, the Students Parliament, the Judiciary Committee, and management for expediting the project. He also thanked the entire student populace for the trust reposed in him and admonished students to continue to support the SRC as the interests of students have been a paramount responsibility.

Speaking at the ceremony, the Registrar, Mr. Matthew Okrah, among others, congratulated the President His Excellency Isaac Aryeetey and his able SRC executives on such a laudable project and encouraged the SRC to work even harder to ensure the welfare of students remains a top priority.

Special thanks to the Vice Dean of Research, Innovation, and Consultancy, Dr. Frank Boateng, and the Hall Warden of KT Hall, Dr. Cecilia Addae.

The brief and impressive ceremony ended with a vote of thanks from the SRC Attorney General, Miss Edwish Frimpong.
